If NPP candidate from Umroi constituency, Ngaitlang Dhar is the richest candidate in the fray for the Assembly election in Meghalaya due on February 27, then sitting Congress legislator Deborah C Marak from Williamnagar constituency is the richest woman candidate in the poll fray with a total asset of Rs 12.343 crore.
According to the affidavit, Marak’s movable assets alone is worth Rs 1,03,98,237.15 while her immovable assets is worth Rs 11.304 crore.
In 5 years, Deborah Marak’s assets increased exponentially by 5.78 crore. In 2013, her movable assets was worth Rs 1,05,01,609 while her immovable assets stood at Rs 4.73 crore.
10 Crorepati’ women candidates in the 2018 poll fray:
The Congress candidate from Williamnagar constituency is not the only crorepati woman candidate in the fray. There are as many as 11 crorepati women candidates this time round, including Deborah Marak.
Dikkanchi D Shira (INC) from Mahendraganj: Sitting legislator, Dikkanchi, also wife of Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma is another crorepati candidate in the list with a total assets of Rs 10,20,27,481.56 as compared to Rs 6,35,90,889 in 2013.
Pelcy Snaitang (BJP) from Ranikor: The BJP candidate from Ranikor who will contesting against sitting Congress legislator Martin M Danggo is the third richest woman candidate in the fray with a total assets of Rs 9,17,72,001 as compared to Rs 2,51,34,198 in 2013.
Grace Mary Kharpuri (PDF) from Pynursla: This year, Grace Mary Kharpuri has chosen to contest the ensuing polls from a PDF ticket against NPP bigwig and former legislator Prestone Tynsong. As per her 2018 affidavit, Grace owns a total assets of Rs 6,88,56,455 as compared to Rs 1,14,58,566 in 2013.
Havergail Edwina Bareh (NPP) from Nartiang: Bareh is another crorepati candidate in the fray. This is her first time as a candidate. She is the fifth richest woman candidate with a total assets of Rs 5,31,41,149.

Marian Maring (BJP) from Nongpoh: First timer, Maring, who is contesting on a BJP ticket from a congress bastion — Nongpoh is the seventh richest woman candidate in the fray with a total assets worth rs 3,63,85,000.
Agatha K Sangma (NPP) from South Tura: Former MP, Agatha Sangma and daughter of late Purno Sangma has finally entered state politics as her family already has one MP in Conrad Sangma, who is also the NPP national president. Agatha is also amongst the crorepati women candidates in the 2018 poll fray with a total assets worth Rs 2,86,61,306.
Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh (INC) East Shillong: From lakhpati, sitting legislator Ampreen Lyngdoh became a crorepati in a span of five years. As per her affidavit, Lyngdoh’s total assets is worth Rs 1,75,47,349 as compared to Rs 21,70,362 in 2013.
June Eliana R Marak (Ind) from Dadenggre: Marak, who is also the wife of former minister, Clement Marak is the tenth richest woman candidate with total assets worth Rs 1,62,21,888.
